CSGO: Promotion to the Premiership

Thu 9th Apr 2015 - 5:10pm : General : Gaming

We are excited to announce that our competitive Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster has been invited in to the ESL UK Premiership group stages. Playing under their former alias of Lime Goblins, the boys put in a stellar performance throughout the three ESL UK Premiership qualification cups. Achieving two Quarter Final finishes, peaking with a Semi-Final finish during the second qualifier, we only just missed out on qualifying. 128 teams battled it out in each qualifier, with only the top two from each gaining automatic qualificaton, meaning our top eight/four finishes weren't quite enough.

However, the team's performances established themselves as a promising up-and-coming team within the United Kingdom's eSports scene. This fact has now been recognised by ESL UK as they have chosen us as their first invitational side for the upcoming competition. We will now compete for a chance at a slice of the £6,000 prize pot in one of the two groups. The group stages will be played out in a double elimination format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the offline final at London’s MCM Comic Con.

It is a testament to the dedication and skill of our players that they have been recognized as ranking among the UK's best CSGO teams and we look forward to supporting them through this exciting opportunity. A reminder of our Roster: Ollie ‘xL HYP0’ Cook (@xL_HYP0); Andrew ‘xL AndrewIsGod’ Thursfield; Andrew ‘xL Resu’ Robson; Henry ‘xL chron1c’ Thornton (@xL_chron1c); and one TBC. We hope you will join us in supporting them and tune in live to the action over on www.twitch.tv/esl_csgo_uk, starting on Monday 20th April. The live bracket can be found at http://pro.eslgaming.com/uk/spring-2015/csgo-groupstage/ and we will soon know which teams we will be competing against in our group.
